[Previously, on Roswell]

[Jesse and Agent Burns are sitting talking.]

Jesse: I won't lie to you. I'm not the biggest fan of my brother-in-law. But, Max is just a kid.

He isn't from this world. He's an alien pretending to be a normal teenaged kid.

[Isabel is in the warehouse. She hears a gun shot. She runs to find Jesse. She runs into the room where Jesse and Agent Burns is. She looks at the floor and stops.]

Isabel: Oh, God.

[She sees Agent Burns lying on the floor, shot dead by Jesse.]

[Jesse and Isabel are in their apartment, talking.]

Isabel: Jesse, we can leave Roswell and never come back.

Jesse: There's nowhere to go. I'm part of this for good now.

[Max and his dad are in the middle of the lake on a fishing boat.]

Max: I saw the board in your office. I know what you're doing. It isn't right to spy on your own son.

Mr. Evans: I'm not spying. I'm trying to figure out what's going on.

[Mr. Evans is in his office looking at a wedding picture of Isabel. He goes over to the bulletin board and pins the picture above the post it that says "Conspirators"]

[Suddenly the symbol on Michael's chest begins to glow brightly. Maria sees it and pulls down his collar to get a better look.]

Maria: Michael, what is on your chest?

[Michael slams on the brakes and throws Maria's door open.]

Michael: You never shut up. Now get out.

Maria: Michael...

Michael: Get out!!

[Maria gets out. Michael speeds away leaving Maria on the side of the road.]

Michael: You died. I'm king. [he opens his shirt to display the glowing Antar seal.] It's your turn to get in line.

Max: No.

Michael: Okay, then.

[Michael lunges at Max, sending them both over the couch. They land on the coffee table breaking it. Michael punches Max twice and put his hand in front of Max's face. He tries to use his powers, but Max grabs his hand and moves it away from them, causing a lamp to explode instead. Max uses his powers to throw Michael across the room. Max runs to him.]

[Choking, Max looks up to see that they're in front of the glass door. Max uses his powers to break the glass. Shards of glass explode onto Michael. Michael screams and falls to his back. Glass flew into his eyes.]

[Max jumps on top of Michael. He pulls the shirt away from Michael's shoulder, and clasps his hand over the glowing Antar seal. Max's hand turns bright red as he extracts the Antar seal from Michael's shoulder leaving an ugly burn mark. The Antar seal transfers to Max's palm then fade into Max's body. Max sits back, gasping.]

[CrashDown Cafe. Max, Kyle, and Liz are sitting in a booth, studying. Liz is rubbing her bare foot along Max's leg.]

Liz: Um, did you know that there's a full college scholarship offering to potential podiatry practicians.

[Maria is cleaning the counters, watching them.]

Max: Really?

Liz: I'd have to keep my business south of the equator though.

Max: Couldn't you come a little farther...north?

[Liz slowly moves her foot up his inner thigh. Max jumps. Kyle looks up at Liz, surprised.]

[Michael walks in the Cafe carrying boxes.]

[Maria stares at him.]

Michael: [stops.] What?

Maria: [shakes her head.] What?

Michael: Whatever. [he walks into the back room.]

[Maria is hurt, she looks at Liz.]

Liz: No.

[Maria rolls her eyes and walks away.]

Max: What?

Liz: Still no apologies from Michael.

Max: Ahhh.

Kyle: Hey, you know that king thing tattoo on Michael's chest?

Liz: That's gone. Max is king now.

Kyle: I know, I know. But what I was going to say was maybe Michael can get like "I'm eternally sorry" tattooed there instead and just flash it every half hour, regardless. Saves time, cuts stress.

[Liz laughs.]

Kyle: Do we know the full par?

Maria: Yep, he threatened my life and then shoved me out of a moving vehicle and just left me in the middle of no where in the middle of the night.

Michael: [overhears Maria.] The car was stopped [bursts out of the back room.] and I never threatened to kill you!!

Maria: After you suggested it would be better off if I was dead and Jesse and everybody else who knows about your little secret.

Michael: It was a suggestion. [he looks around at everyone.] Why am I always apologizing for who I am.

Maria: It wasn't you Michael.

Michael: Yes it is me. [points at Max.] Max was dead. [points at himself.] I was king. I did what I had to do.

Maria: Fine.

Michael: I'm not sorry about it either.

Maria: Fine!

Michael: No, I'm not sorry. [storms out of the Cafe, breaking the door window.]

Maria: [sighs.] Great.

[Michael is outside at night kneeling down covering up something. He gets on his motorcycle and starts revving it, it dies. He hears a loud sound. He looks up. He sees two space crafts streak across the sky and crash in the distance. His motorcycle starts by itself. Michael drives to the crash site. The debris is on fire. He gets off his bike and looks around. He sees a parachute. He picks up the pilots helmet it says "Griffin" on it.]

Michael: Griffin are you okay?

[Nothing.]

Michael: Hey!! Anybody!!

[He sees military trucks coming from a distance and hears a helicopter. HE takes the helmet, gets on his bike, and drives off.]

[Opening Credits.]

[News reporter is in front of a fountain reporting live.]

News Reporter: Here we go again. That's the attitude of most local residence to the news that another UFO has supposedly crashed outside of Roswell. The local merchants are hoping that this latest close encounter will stimulate Roswell's dwindling tourist business. [see the reporter from a tv in the CrashDown Cafe.] Local officials are down playing the entire incident. As of right now our inquiries of--

[We see Liz is watching tv while working, Jeff walks in with a huge box of green alien face balloons, Max follows behind him with a box.]

Jeff: Anything yet?

Liz: They're down playing it.

Jeff: Even better. Make it look like a cover up. Hey Max, thanks for helping. Would you mind re-marking those prices?

Max: Uh, sure, what do you want them to be?

Jeff: Double everything.

Liz: I can do it, Dad.

Jeff: No. You two [referring also to Maria who is sitting at the cash register.] have to be here to handle the rush.

Maria: [looks up] The rush?

Jeff: Yeah. Oh, you're too young to remember. Back in 1986 there was another unexplained incident outside of town; this town went wild. Oh Max, there's a box of neckties, the alien neckties, in the back room near the mustard containers, you mind?

Max: No problem. [he leaves to go get them.]

Liz: Um, I don't think they're there anymore. [she follows Max.]

[Jeff looks up at the tv.]

New Reporter: What I'm told Major Pete Carlson from the United States Air Force will be conducting the briefing this morning.

Jeff: [to Maria] Unexplained. All he has to say is that it's unexplained. Unexplained incident, unexplained encounter. Call it unexplained and those UFO freaks will be flying in this town and we will be swimming in CAAAASSHHH!!

[Back room. Liz pulls down the box of neckties and hands it to Max.]

Liz: Here we are. [Max picks up a necktie and looks at it.] You okay?

Max: I'm fine. Fine.

Liz: Well a ship from outer space crashes in the desert, and you don't have a problem with it.

Max: Odds are it's probably nothing.

Liz: You're not even curious? [Max looks down.] Oh, you are.

Max: I have more important concerns.

Liz: Really?

Jeff: [yells from the front of the Cafe.] Liz? Will you give me a hand out here?

Liz: Coming! [she takes the neckties box and walks out of the back room.]

[Max watches her leave. Michael comes in from the back door.]

Michael: Hey.

Max: Where have you been?

Michael: Investigating a potential threat to our existence.

Max: You were in the desert?

Michael: All night. I couldn't see much. They got perimeters around the perimeters out there.

Max: Leave it alone.

Michael: Max, are you nuts? I saw it. It killed the engine on my bike, it went right over my head.

Max: What did it look like?

Michael: [shrugs.] Like a really great sci-fi special effect, only real.

Max: It was probably an Air Force training.

Michael: How do you know?

Max: Words out. [starts to walk away.] Unofficially.

Michael: Yeah, Max I can tell you an Air Force jet was involved , but the question is in what?

Max: [turns around and walks closer to Michael.] We're too exposed right now, especially with Jesse.

Michael: At least he came through.

Max: He killed a federal agent. And right now, the last thing we need is some bona fide alien from another world who is looking for trouble.

Michael: You scared I'm gonna find something?

Max: I'm terrified they'll find you.

Michael: The I'll handle it. [walks out the back door.]

[Front of CrashDown. Maria is at the cash register, Liz has the box of neckties, and Jeff is sitting beside a customer watching tv.]

Jeff: Come on, unexplained. Unexplained, baby! One little word. I'll even take unknown. Say it, Say it!

[We see the tv screen. An old man and young woman are in uniform are walking through the reporters.]

Reporter: Was it a UFO last night? Can you tell me, was it a UFO? Test flight? [they keep walking.] We're not going to get many words from him right now, stepping up to the podium and on the microphone right now is Major Carlson.]

[Isabel's apartment. She's watching the same news channel. She picks up her phone and dials.

Reporter: Who is expected to confirm only what most people in Roswell already hear through the grape vine that the UFO seem last night was an Air Force jet on a cross country test flight who apparently experienced--

Isabel: [to herself] Oh, thank you.

[The number she dialed is still ringing.]

Phone: You've reached the cell phone of Jesse Ramirez. Please leave a message at the tone and I'll call you back as soon as I can.

[Isabel hangs up and shakes her head. There's a knock at the door, Isabel answers her phone by mistake.]

Isabel: Hello. [hangs up her phone and rolls her eyes. She can't believe she just did that, she turns to the front door.]

Isabel: Who is it?

Mrs. Evans: Mom!

[Isabel is annoyed, she answers the door.]

Isabel: Hey mama, how are ya?

Mrs. Evans: [holds up her hands] Surprise! I have a plan. Since the men we live with are in Delaware on business, [she lets herself in.] I thought we should spend some money on clothes. [she looks around.] Isabel, what happened to all the furniture?

Isabel: Nothing. I just felt, you know, like it was time for a change [she walks over to the mantle and places the phone on it.]

Mrs. Evans: You can afford to replace all the furniture in your apartment?

Isabel: We'll manage.

Mrs. Evans: Honey, are you okay?

Isabel: Yeah, mom, I'm fine.

Mrs. Evans: I, uh, talk to your dad this morning and he felt that Jesse was acting a bit differently. Did you two have a fight?

Isabel: No, mom. We're fine. I swear.

Mrs. Evans: Okay, well if you need to talk about anything--

Isabel: There's nothing to talk about. Beside if there were it would be of one or two things. Sex or money. One of which is great.

Mrs. Evans: [eyes gets really big.] Ohh-kayyyy. Then--

Isabel: And the other is about the budget I'm about to ignore. Lets go buy me some shoes.

Mrs. Evans: Lets go. [they leave.]

[Major Carlson talking to the media.]

Major Carlson: Contrary to some reports, this was not, repeat, not a UFO or an unexplained incident.

[CrashDown. They're watching the Major talk on tv as the blow up green alien body balloons.]

Jeff: [Deflates his balloon.] Uhhhh. I think it's time for a going-out-of-business sale.

Liz: [hugs her father.] I'm sorry, Dad.

Major Carlson: --crashed 19 miles Northwest of Roswell, New Mexico. The jet was based at Edwards Air Force Base [Michael walks over to where the media is sitting listening to Major Carlson.] in California was engaged in a cross country test flight in night conditions. There were no weapons on board. The name of the pilot was Colonel Theodore Griffin. He is the one and only casualty in this unfortunate incident. [Michael looks confused.] That's all I'm prepared to say at this time. However, Air Force Cadet Connie Griffin, Colonel Griffin's daughter, would like to say a few words.

Cadent Griffin: Good morning. I know a lot of people here in Roswell were hoping for some sort of extraterrestrial explanation to last night's incident, but we know what happened. We know the truth. It's important to me that you know he died doing what he loved. And you should know that my father stayed with his plane till the end. He made sure it went down someplace safe to protect your homes and your lives. He was a good man.

Michael: Excuse me, are you saying he didn't eject?

[The media turns around and stares at him.]

Cadent Griffin: No, he didn't have a chance to eject.

Major Carlson: [looks at the other air force people around him.] That's all we have time for now. If we get anymore information, we'll let you know.

[Michael looks beside him. A man is staring at him. Major Carlson and Cadet Griffin walk off the stage and past Michael, Michael follows them, and the man continues to stare at Michael.]

[Primeview Lodge. Cadet Connie Griffin is in her lodge room drinking alcohol, crying. Her door is open, so Michael slowly walks in.]

Michael: [shuts her door.] You might want to keep you head clear.

Connie: Who the hell are you?

Michael: I believe you father is alive. [pulls Griffin's helmet out of his book bag.] He made it out of that plane.

Connie: [takes the helmet.] Where did you get this?

Michael: In the desert about a half a mile from the crash site. . . next to his ejection seat. But he wasn't there.

Connie: What kind of sick bastard are you, huh? Really where did you get this? Some army, navy surplus? You buy some rub on letters right after the news conference?

Michael: There's something in the lining you might want to take a look at.

[Connie looks in the lining, she pulls out a picture of her when she was younger and her dad. She starts crying. She flips to the back of the picture, "Daddy's angel" was written by her on the back.]

Michael: [puts his hand on her shoulder.] Hey, it's okay.

[Connie elbows him in his stomach and punches him in the face. Michael grabs his nose and holds his stomach.]

Michael: Damn!!

Connie: Who are you?

Michael: [looks up at her.] I just wanted to know why they lied.

Connie: It doesn't matter.

Michael: What?

Connie: Whatever is going on they must be doing it to protect national security, that's what they do.

Michael: They lied to you.

Connie: Whatever I am told, I am told for a reason.

Michael: Your father could still be alive.

Connie: Carlson wouldn't lie about that.

Michael: How do you know? How do you know about that?

Connie: [yells] Get out! Before I have you arrested for alluding a scene of a military investigation. That's a federal offense, buddy. You could go away fro a long time.

[Michael shakes his head and walks out.]

[Connie picks up her dad's helmet and starts crying.]

[Jesse and Mr. Evans in a lounge smoking cigars.]

Mr. Evans: Need a light? [Jesse looks at him.] Your cigar.

[Jesse leans over, and Mr. Evans lights it for him.]

Jesse: Thanks.

Mr. Evans: Good work today. You missing home?

Jesse: Hmm?

Mr. Evans: Isabel.

Jesse: What about her?

Mr. Evans: You missing her?

Jesse: [clears his throat.] Yeah. Sure.

[Mr. Evans nods.]

[Isabel's apartment. Isabel and Mrs. Evans walk back in after shopping.]

Mrs. Evans: Oh my goodness! Have you ever seen discounts like that? I mean you'd think that the whole town was having a fire sale.

[they sit on the couch.]

Isabel: Yeah!

Mrs. Evans: How's Max, Isabel?

Isabel: Uhh. Max? Uhh..

Mrs. Evans: Yeah.

Isabel: He's fine. I think he's studying for finals right now.

Mrs. Evans: Hmm. Does, uh, does he know what he's going to do when he graduates?

[Jesse and Mr. Evans sitting in the lounge.]

Mr. Evans: Forget I'm your father-in-law for a second.

Jesse: [laughs.] That's impossible.

Mr. Evans: Try it. You trying?

Jesse: Yes, Dad.

Mr. Evans: Try harder.

Jesse: What do you want to know?

[Isabel and her mom sitting on the couch.]

[Mrs. Evans glances at a wedding picture of Isabel, herself, her husband, Jesse, and Jesse's mom.]

Mrs. Evans: Nothing worse than being alone in a house without the one you love, is there?

[Isabel looks at the same picture.]

[Jesse and Mr. Evans sitting in the lounge.]

Mr. Evans: I want to know if everything is okay.

Jesse: Everything is, uh, a little more difficult than I expected.

Mr. Evans: What were you expecting?

Jesse: Less difficulty.

[Isabel and her mom sitting on the couch.]

Isabel: It's okay, he won't be gone forever.

Mrs. Evans: Oh, it drives me crazy. I mean I hate being alone in the house when your dad is gone. Silence is deafening.

[Jesse and Mr. Evans sitting in the lounge.]

Jesse: Look, I'm glad you're concerned, really. But at the moment, I think I should just keep this between me and Isabel. [Mr. Evans nods.] I mean, I know you're her father--

Mr. Evans: At the moment, I'm your friend. I'm serious about this, Jesse. I want you to know you can come to me for anything you want to discuss. Even if it's about your wife. I've known her slightly longer than you, so... The doors open, that's all I'm saying.

Jesse: Thanks.

[Isabel and her mom sitting on the couch.]

Mrs. Evans: I could sure use some company.

Isabel: Um...

Mrs. Evans: I could make double fudge brownies.

Isabel: [laughs] Not fair.

Mrs. Evans: I'm an evil, manipulative woman just ask you dad. [she smiles. Isabel laughs.] What do you say?

Isabel: Sounds great.

Mrs. Evans: [smiles] Great.

[Major Carlson meet with Cadet Griffin (Connie) at a car junk yard.]

Major Carlson: What's this about Cadent Griffin?

Cadent Griffin: Thank you for meeting me here, sir. I just didn't feel comfortable coming onto the base with this.

Major Carlson: With what?

[She pulls her father's helmet out of her car. Major Carlson is very surprised to see it.]

Major Carlson: Where'd you get this?

Cadet Griffin: Through a friendly, sir. Sir, is my father alive?

Major Carlson: Has your father been depressed lately? Acting different? Has he said anything that would indicate--

Cadet Griffin: You think he killed himself?

Major Carlson: We can't find him. We have reason to believe that he may have gone over with information relating to the raptor.

Cadet Griffin: [shakes her head.] No!

Major Carlson: We have searched everywhere within a 10 mile radius. If he contacts you, I need to know about it.

Cadet Griffin: My father is not a traitor, sir.

Major Carlson: I hope you're right. There's nothing else you can do here. Go back to Colorado, I will contact you if I have anything.

Cadet Griffin: Yes, sir. [she turns to go in her car. Major Carlson grabs the helmet, she lets go after a few seconds. She gets in her car and drives away.]

[That man who kept staring at Michael after the news conference walks out of hiding up to Major Carlson.]

Man: That was quite a yarn.

Major Carlson: Find the friendly who gave her the helmet. I'll meet with you later. [he walks away.]

Man: Sure. Maybe we can split a malt or something.

[Night time. Cadent Griffin is driving on a remote road. A truck with his brights on tailgates her. The truck rams into her from behind the speeds up beside her. The truck rams her off the road, she crashes, a man gets out of the car.]

Cadent Griffin: Help me! Somebody please help me!!

[We see that her car is flipped over, she's trapped. The same man that was staring at Michael and talking to Major Carlson walks up to her.

Man: [kneels down to look inside the car.] Hey. It's a beautiful night. Just try to relax and enjoy the desert air.

[He puts a timed bomb (she has 1:54 left to live.) on her car and walks away. He gets in his truck and drives off.]

Cadent Griffin: Somebody please help me!

[54 seconds to live.]

[We hear a motorcycle. We see Michael drive up to her car. Michael runs to her.]

Cadent Griffin: Help! Help me please!

[Michael kneels down to look in the car. Connie is still in her seat wearing her seatbelt.]

Michael: Cover your face.

[She covers her face. He uses his powers to open the door.]

[He undoes her seatbelt and grabs her. He helps her stand up.]

[13 seconds left.]

Connie: How did you do that?

Michael: Do what?

Connie: The door. How did you--

Michael: The crash loosened the hinges, now come on.

Connie: What?

[7 seconds left.]

[They run to his motorcycle.]

Connie: Wait a minute, how did you know that--

Michael: I told you you were being lied to. I had a feeling they'd want to stop you after you turned that helmet in to Major With-an-attitude.

Connie: You followed me? Who the hell do you think you are?!?

[The car explodes They duck for cover.]

Michael: Any more questions?

[Max and Liz in Michael's kitchen studying.]

Liz: Stop it.

Max: What?

Liz: Pretending.

Max: What am I pretending?

Liz: That you don't know any of this.

Max: It's all a mystery to me.

Liz: Well, me too.

[Michael and Connie walks in.]

Michael: Hey! [they turn around.] This is Connie. Her father is the pilot of the crashed jet. The Air Force says he's a traitor on the run but Connie doesn't buy it, neither do I. They tried to kill her.

Connie: Michael says you can help me.

Max: [stands up.] Do what?

Connie: Find my father.

Max: [to Michael:] Can I talk to you for a second? [Michael and Max walk into a different room.] What's going on?

Michael: That's what we gotta try to figure out.

Max: The only thing to figure out, Michael, is you. I don't even know what to say.

Michael: That's why you gotta trust your second in command to know what's right.

Max: What's right?!? What's next? JFK was killed by aliens? What's happened to you?

Michael: Me? What's happened to you? We got a major situation here and you don't seem to care.

Max: What situation would that be? Her or you?

[Max walks back to where Liz and Connie are.]

[CrashDown Cafe. That man and Major Carlson are in a booth having malts.]

Maria: Ready to order?

Man: Major?

Major Carlson: I'm fine with this.

Man: Could I have a penee pasta with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes in a marinara sauce?

Maria: Uh, no, we only have spaghetti.

Man: That's not what I want.

Maria: What you want is the Olive Garden.

Major Carlson: He'll have a hamburger, just bring him a hamburger.

[Maria walks away.]

Man: I don't eat red meat.

Major Carlson: Did you do it?

[man nods.]

Major Carlson: Did you find anything in her hotel room?

Man: No.

Major Carlson: What about the helmet? Who gave it to her?

Man: A kid named Michael Guerin. ID-ed him off a local news tape.

Major Carlson: Are you sure it's him?

Man: I will be after I break a few of his fingers. [lifts up his malt.] This is a great milkshake.

[Maria behind the counter]

Maria: [to herself.] Sun-dried tomatoes. [The door beside her opens, someone grabs her and pulls her into the back room.]

Michael: We need to talk.

Maria: Ow! You should be slapped.

[she turns around to see Max, Connie, and Liz standing behind her.]

Maria: Who's this?

Connie: Connie Griffin.

Maria: Oh you mean, the pilot's daughter, right?

Michael: yeah, she's in trouble.

Connie: My father is missing.

Maria: Missing? Isn't he-- The news has been saying that--

Michael: No, he's not dead.

Max: Michael says that the man that the Air Force got is the killer.

Michael: Yeah, he ran her car off the road and tried to blow it up cuz she has proof that the Air Force is lying to the public about her father.

[Connie nods.]

[Liz looks out the door window into the Cafe at Major Carlson and the man.]

Michael: Come on guys, the Air Force is hiding something. Maybe a crashed UFO.

[Max looks at Connie, Connie looks at Max.]

Max: What do you propose?

[Liz turns around.]

Liz: They're leaving.

[Max and Michael walk out of the back room into the Cafe and the man and Major Carlson leave the Cafe.]

Michael: I saw that we hook the small fish to the big fish.

Max: Do you really think there's a ship mixed up in this?

Michael: I'm not sure, and I'm not sure it's important anymore either.

Max: So what is?

Michael: Doing the right thing.

[Max looks back at Maria, Liz, and Connie.]

Max: Was there a collision?

Michael: What between me and her?

Max: Between her father's jet and the UFO.

Michael: Maybe, I don't know. You gotta help me.

Max: We force the little fish to talk, and we're at risk. We might have to kill him.

Michael: [looks over at 2 alien heads.] I got a better idea.

[Air Force Base. A man is lying in a room chained to a bed with a bag over his head. Major Carlson walks in and removes the bag. It's Colonel Griffin.]

Griffin: Pete.

Carlson: Ted.

Griffin: So what now? No more questions.

Carlson: No more questions.

Griffin: Well, I got one for you. Who was flying that thing?

Carlson: As soon as we figure out how to get the cockpit open we'll have an answer to that question. But I'm afraid you won't.

Griffin: BEcause I'll be dead.

Carlson: Actually, you already are.

Griffin: I never ejected.

Carlson: [shakes his head.] No.

Griffin: What does Connie think?

Carlson: What the rest of the media fed world thinks, that you brought a malfunctioning million dollar jet down into an unpopulated area to save lives.

Griffin: And the guards outside my door?

Carlson: They think you're a saboteur spy, and they'd like to see you shot.

Griffin: And here I am just a guy who ran into a UFO.

Carlson: Well, we got protocol on these kinds of situations.

Griffin: Protocol?

Carlson: I'm sorry, Ted. [puts the bag over his head.]

[Isabel and her mom sitting in Mrs. Evans' kitchen.]

Mrs. Evans: So, it's a nice restaurant?

Isabel: Yeah.

Mrs. Evans: Jesse likes it?

Isabel: Yes.

Mrs. Evans: But you like it more?

Isabel: We like it exactly the same.

Mrs. Evans: [laughs.] Uh, you know, what does he hate?

Isabel: What?

Mrs. Evans: I mean, you know honey, your father, he hates uh health food and french movies. What does Jesse hate?

Isabel: I don't know.

Mrs. Evans: You don't know?

Isabel: He doesn't hate anything. Mom, where is this going?

Mrs. Evans: Honey, I'm just trying to make a little conversation, you know, I miss talking to you about things that matter. We used to do that. Talk.

Isabel: Mom, I just want to thank you.

Mrs. Evans: For what?

Isabel: For letting me be who I am. For accepting Jesse and me.

Mrs. Evans: Honey, you don't have to thank me for that. It's not a chore. You're my daughter. I should thank you for all the patience you've had with me. So... how about blueberry pancakes?

Isabel: Now?

Mrs. Evans: No, no, in the morning. I mean, your room is still there.

Isabel: Oh, I--I should probably get back home. I mean, Jesse might call me.

Mrs. Evans: But you have your cell phone, don't you?

Isabel: Yeah, but... [looks at her mom] I do kind of miss my old bed.

Mr. Evans: [smiles] Great. [pats her leg.]

[The mystery man is in a dark house wearing latex gloves and holding a flash light and gun snooping around. By the look of the rooms, we see that he's in Michael apartment.]

[The man whirls around to find two people in alien suits. One of the aliens some how makes his gun fly into the wall, the other punches him, knocking him out.]

[Mrs. Evans on the phone with her husband.]

Mr. Evans: She didn't leave, did she? You got her to stay?

Mrs. Evans: She's here, she's asleep. I-I just don't feel right about this, Philip.

Mr. Evans: We're not doing anything they didn't do.

Mrs. Evans: Well, what have they done? I mean, if you know something specific or if you have some proof would you just tell me?

Mr. Evans: They're not who they say they are.

Mrs. Evans: Is that what Jesse's telling you?

Mr. Evans: No, Jesse's not talking.

Mrs. Evans: Well, maybe that's because there is nothing to say.

Mr. Evans: No, he's hiding something. He's not the same man who married our daughter. He's changed. And I think what changed him was knowledge.

Mrs. Evans: Of what?

Mr. Evans: That's what we're going to find out. Did you do what I told you?

Mrs. Evans: [long pause.] Yes.

Mr. Evans: Honey, they left us with no choice. They forced us to do this.

Mrs. Evans: I know. I know.

[The mystery man is sitting in a chair. He tries to lift his arm from the arm rest, but a yellow force field around it is preventing him from doing so.]

Man: Oh my god. [he looks up. there's a green force shield between him and two people. The force shield is preventing him from being able to identify who they are.]

Man: What do you want? [no response.] What do you want?!?

Voice: Where is Colonel Griffin? [no response.] Where is Colonel Griffin?

Man: I-I-I don't know who that is. What is this?

[He sees a hand move closer to him. Suddenly, he spins around and around in his chair extremely fast.]

[As he is spinning. One of the people in the alien costume lowers the green force shield. Then they both turn around and lift up there masks. We see that it's Max and Michael. They suck some more air out of the helium balloon, and turn back around. Max puts the force shield back up and the man stops spinning.]

Voice: Where is our ship? [the man doesn't answer, so Max lifts up his arm.] Prepare the probe.

Man: Wait! Wait. I-I-I-I swear I-I don't know anything.

Voice: Where is Colonel Griffin? Where is our ship? [Max steps forward.] We will get answers.

[Max makes the man spin around in his chair again.]

[CrashDown Cafe. Max and Liz walk down the stairs in back. Max is in a military uniform.]

[Michael, Maria, and Connie are at the base of the stairs.]

Michael: They're gonna kill him.

Connie: What?

Michael: He saw something and now they have to get rid of him. Clean team is on their way to pick him up and take him into the desert.

Max: We need to get there first.

[Connie turns to Max.]

Connie: Where'd you get those clothes?

Michael: We've got a plan.

Connie: You've got a plan? No, no, no, no. We're talking about my dad here. I'm not just gonna let some high schoolers--

Maria: Hey! We've had practice, okay?

Connie: Who are you people?

Michael: We're the good guys. Maxwell, we gotta go. [he walks to the back door.]

Max: Yeah. [to Liz:] You know when to meet us?

Liz: In two hours.

Max: Right. Connie, we'll get him back. Promise. [he walks to the door, Liz grabs him.]

[Michael walks over to Maria.]

Liz: Hey, be careful. If there really is a space ship don't get on it.

Max: Not a chance in hell.

Michael: By the way, I'm sorry for ever suggesting that you'd be better off dead.

Maria: [smiles.] Go. Do the good thing.

[They leave.]

Connie: They're going to need ID's to get on the base.

[Maria and Liz look at each other.]

[Rogers Air Force Base. Max is driving a van with the mystery man i the passenger seat holding up his ID to the guards at the front gate. The guards let them in.]

[Max is rolling a bed with sheets draped around it.]

Man: It's up here on the right.

[The man sounds exactly like Michael, so we now know that Michael used his powers to look like the mystery man.]

Max: Got it. Go check on the ship, if there is one.

Man: And if there's occupants?

Max: We'll deal with it later. I got this.

Man: Okay. [he walks away to find the ship.]

[Max walks up to a door with two guards standing beside it.]

Max: I'm here for him.

Guard: And who are you?

Max: None of your damn business soldier! Eyes front! Don't look at me. Open the door.

[The guard opens the door, Max wheels the bed in.]

Max: Close it.

[The guard shuts the door behind Max.]

Max: [removes the bag from Colonel's head.] Colonel Griffin? Connie sent us.

[Max removes the sheet draped over the bed. The mystery man is underneath with his mouth duck taped.]

[The man [remember, it's really Michael.] walks over to a door and uses his ID card to unlock it, he walks in. There are scientists busy at a lab station.

[The man (Michael) walks over to the window. He sees people in biohazard suits. There is a huge area in the middle of the room that's contained in plastic. They're walking in and out of that area.]

[The man walks by the scientists and opens another door with him ID. He walks down a flight of stairs and into the room he was just looking at through the window.]

[As he walks by some stations where the biohazard people are working, he notices them inspecting chunks of plastic and other metallic objects. He notices a conical black object. He carefully puts it in his pocket when no one is looking.]

[The guard looks into the room that Max is in. Max looks up at him.]

[CrashDown. Liz, Maria, and Connie are sitting, waiting.]

Liz: It'll be okay.

Connie: Should have gone with them.

Maria: You would have been stopped.

Connie: They could die.

Liz: They have practice.

Connie: Dying?

Liz: No, I mean at things like this.

Connie: Do things like this happen a lot around here? {Liz and Maria glance at each other.] Why don't you leave?

Maria: We've tried.

Liz: No place like home. [she smiles.]

Connie: If they get him out--

Liz: They will.

Connie: We won't be able to go home. They'll come after us. Let them.

[Max and the man (Michael) are walking down a hall.]

Max: Is there a ship?

Man: There's a ship.

Max: Damn it.

Man: Don't you hate it when I'm right?

Max: Usually, but lets be clear, I don't hate you.

Man: I know that. Where's Griffin?

Max: The guards gave me some trouble. We've got to go.

Intercom: Major Carlson, Code 8.

[Major Carlson picks up a phone.]

Major Carlson: Major Carlson.

[In the room where the man was.]

Biohazard Person: It was right here.

Major Carlson: [to guard beside him:] Give me your sidearm. [the guard hands it to him.] We've got a breach. [he walks away.]

[Major Carlson walks into the room where Colonel Griffin is. He holds up the gun and shoots him in the head.]

[Max and Michael drive away into the desert.]

[Michael waves his hand over his face. It turns from the man's face into an alien mask. Michael takes of the mask. He's sweating a lot.]

Michael; This is where I'd step on it.

[Major Carlson removes the bag over his head. The person lying there wasn't Colonel Griffin. He actually killed the mystery man.]

[Colonel Griffin is in back of the van, Michael is sitting beside him now. He hands him a wet cloth.]

Colonel Griffin: Thanks. [he holds it up to his bloody lip.]

Michael: Not a problem.

Colonel Griffin: Now who are you?

Michael: The calvary. Your daughter is waiting for you. She knows everything.

Colonel Griffin: Everything?

Michael: Enough to know that you lives are going to be very different.

Colonel Griffin: I guess that means we'll be running.

Michael: I guess so. You might want to keep the UFO thing to yourself.

Colonel Griffin: How do you know about that?

Michael: We got our ways. [he moves to the passenger seat.]

[The van stops. They all get out. Liz, Maria, and Connie are waiting beside Max's car. Colonel Griffin runs to his daughter. They hug.]

Connie: Dad!

Colonel Griffin: Connie! Ohh.

[They're so busy hugging that they don't see Max touch the hood of the van and change its color.]

Michael: I think you guys better get going.]

[Colonel Griffin and Connie turn around.]

Colonel Griffin: Yeah, but they're going to be looking for a silver-- [looks at the van.] Wasn't that van...

Connie: [walks over to the van.] How did you do that?

Max: Like Michael said, we got our ways.

[She turns to Michael and hugs him.]

Connie: Thank you.

Colonel Griffin: Lets go. [they get into the van.]

Liz: That was different. Saving somebody else's life or a change.

[Colonel Griffin and Connie drive off.]

Max: Yeah. Feels good.

Michael: There's a ship. [holds up the black conical object.]

Liz: Wonderful. And is there an alien pilot?

Max: Don't know.

Maria: Don't you want to find out?

Michael: For now we should stay as far away as possible from that base.

Max: Fine with me. [to Liz:] Lets go home. [he puts his arm around her shoulders.] This has been a day. [they walk to his car.]

[Maria walks up to Michael smiling. Michael reaches for her, but she playfully punches him in the shoulder and walks to Max's car.]

[They all get in the car and drive off.]

[Morning. Mrs. Evans' house. Mrs. Evans is making pancakes.]

Mrs. Evans: Isabel! Honey breakfast is almost ready!

[Isabel is in her room, on her cell phone.]

Isabel: Hello?

Jesse: Did I wake you up?

Isabel: No, I'm up. how are you? [he sighs.] Jesse.

Jesse: Your father is asking questions.

Isabel: [sits on her bed.] What do you mean?

Jesse: I mean he's on to you. He knows I'm covering something up. He knows it's something bad.

Isabel: How can he know that?

Jesse: Because he's not stupid, Isabel.

Isabel: What did you tell him?

Jesse: I didn't tell him anything.

Isabel: [relieved.] When are you coming home?

Jesse: We'll be back tonight. Where are you?

Isabel: At my mom's.

Jesse: She giving you the third degree?

Isabel: Yes.

Jesse: It's just a matter of time. They're working on this together now.

Isabel: Damn it. Damn it!

Jesse: It's just a matter of time.

Isabel: I have to go. [she hangs up.]

[Isabel is sitting cross legged on her bed. Her hands are folded and her head is resting on them. She's very upset, angry, and hurt. She closes her eyes. A whirlwind of air speeds all around her, carrying all of her stuff in the air like a tornado.]

[Mrs. Evans is putting the pancakes on a plate, she hears a noise.]

Mrs. Evans: Isabel? Are you all right, honey?

[Isabel stands up and waves her hand. All her stuff flies back into place.]

Isabel: Yes mother, I'm fine! [to herself:] Just fine.

[As she walks out of her room, we see a hidden camera propped up on some books on her book shelf.]

[Night time. Mr. Evans walks in.]

Mr. Evans: Honey, I'm home!

[He sees Mrs. Evans watching tv, shocked and disturbed at what she's watching.]

Mr. Evans: What's wrong? [she doesn't respond.] Hey. Are you okay? [he kneels beside her.] Honey? Are you okay?

[Mrs. Evans can't speak, she just motions to the tv.]

[Mr. Evans turns to the tv. Mrs. Evans puts her hand over her mouth.]

Mr. Evans: [shocked.] Oh my god.

[He watches the tornado of Isabel's things flying around Isabel. Mrs. Evans puts her head on his shoulder. Mr. Evans watches with his jaw dropped open.]
