In September 1998 Melinda Metz published the first of what would become a ten-book series called Roswell High. The series immediately piqued the interest Warner Brothers and Jason Katims, who created a one-hour pilot. The show became a success.

The first five books were released in close succession in late '98 and early '99. When Roswell's pilot episode finally aired on October 06, 1999, the books were soon re-released with new cover art. The final five books of the series were released monthly from April to August 2000.
